WE CONVENE MULTI-SECTOR GROUPS TO ADVANCE COLLECTIVE CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS OUR ISLAND'S SHARED VISION OF A VIBRANT HAWAI'I.
We envision a community that: instills lifelong learners with aloha ʻāina; believes that everyone is both a useful and necessary contributor; believes that they can learn and develop skills through determination and hard work; believes that they are capable of carrying out a specific task or of reaching a specific goal; is able to problem solve through empathy, innovation and creativity; and, is able to collaborate and recognize interconnections within local and global communities.
We aim to build capacity in our workforce to understand the impacts of traumatic events and provide support, shift the stigma and shame around trauma, burnout and healing in our community, provide tools and resources to worksites, and become a catalyst for change.
We envision abundance. We envision economic opportunities that allow our children to thrive- and providing them incentives to stay. We envision meaningful work. We envision ʻāina healing industries that prioritizes ʻāina based education. We envision a resilient economy that contributes to a Vibrant Hawaiʻi.
Over 50% of Hawaiʻi County households pay more than 30% of their monthly income on shelter. The goal of the Hawaiʻi Island Housing Coalition is to reduce the number of shelter burdened households by increasing a spectrum of housing options.
