Point of Distribution FAQs

Who can apply to become a distribution site?
Community organizations, schools, churches, nonprofit organizations, and informal neighborhood groups are all encouraged to apply. If you have a trusted place in your community and a willingness to serve families, you may be a great fit.

Do I need prior experience running a food distribution program?
No previous experience is required. Vibrant Hawaiʻi provides training, coordination, and supplies to help each site operate successfully.

What support does Vibrant Hawaiʻi provide to site hosts?
All selected sites receive guidance on setup, training for site leads, coordination support, and the materials needed to distribute food boxes smoothly and safely.

What does a point of distribution actually do?
Sites serve as local distribution points where families pick up their weekly food boxes. Sites help organize pick-up days, welcome families, and ensure boxes are distributed according to program guidelines.

When does the Kaukau 4 Keiki program run?
Kaukau 4 Keiki will run from the week of Monday, June 15 through Friday, July 24, 2026.

How much time is required to host a site?
Time commitments vary depending on your site size and distribution model, but most hosts should expect weekly coordination during the six-week summer program, plus training before launch.

Is there a cost to become a distribution site?
No. There is no fee to apply or participate as a host site.

How do I register to become a site host?
Site registration is open through April 20, 2026. Interested groups can apply online at: bit.ly/26sites or the button above.

How are sites selected?
Sites are selected based on community need, geographic coverage, accessibility for families, and the readiness of applicants to coordinate weekly distribution.
