Program FAQs

1. When does registration open and close?
Registration opens Monday, February 23 at 6:00AM and closes Sunday, March 1 at 11:59PM.

2. If I register right when it opens, does that guarantee my child a spot?
No. Registration is not an indication that your child is confirmed to participate. Submitting a registration places your child in the pool for consideration. Families will be notified of their status on June 1, 2026 via text message.

3. How will I know if my child is confirmed?
All families will receive a text message on June 1, 2026 confirming whether their child is participating. That message will include the assigned distribution location, day, and time.

4. Can I register more than one child on the same form?
No. Please submit one registration per child. Each child must have their own form completed.

5. What information is required to register?
A valid cell phone number and residential zip code are required for registration processing. Please ensure the phone number entered is correct, as confirmation will be sent via text.

6. Who is eligible for Hawaiʻi Island Kaukau 4 Keiki?
To qualify:
– Children must be 18 years old or younger, OR
– Individuals 19 years and older must be enrolled in a school program for persons with disabilities
– The registered child must not be participating in another USDA summer meal program (such as DOE Summer Meals)

7. What if my child is participating in DOE Summer Meals?
If a child is participating in another USDA summer meal program, including DOE Summer Meals, they are not eligible for Hawaiʻi Island Kaukau 4 Keiki.

8. Can I choose my distribution site?
After registration closes, Vibrant Hawaiʻi will review total registrations by zip code and confirm distribution site partners accordingly. Keiki will then be assigned to a distribution site within their residential area to support equitable access across the island. Site assignments are finalized once confirmation messages are sent on June 1, 2026.

9. When does the program run?
Hawaiʻi Island Kaukau 4 Keiki begins the week of Monday, June 22, 2026 and concludes the week ending Friday, July 31, 2026.

10. I registered but haven’t heard anything yet. What should I do?
All notifications will be sent on June 1, 2026 via text message. If you do not receive a message on that date, please reach out to k4k@vibranthawaii.org

11. What if I enter the wrong phone number during registration?
The cell phone number entered is how we communicate confirmation. If you believe you entered an incorrect number, please email k4k@vibranthawaii.org to update your registration.

12. Is registering early better?
We encourage families to register early within the open window to ensure their information is submitted on time. However, registering early does not guarantee placement.

13. Can I register after March 1 at 11:59PM?
No. Registration closes at 11:59PM on March 1. Late registrations cannot be accepted.

14. I don’t live on Hawaiʻi Island. Can I still register?
Hawaiʻi Island Kaukau 4 Keiki registration through Vibrant Hawaiʻi is for Hawaiʻi Island residents only. If your residential zip code is not on Hawaiʻi Island, we encourage you to visit kaukau4keiki.org to find a program on your island
