Resilience Alliance Summit

On March 19th, Vibrant Hawaiʻi hosted the Resilience Alliance Summit, bringing together over 40 nonprofit organizations, businesses, and local and state emergency management to define capacities, roles, and explore initiatives to increase community resilience. Participants engaged across three breakout groups: developing a continuity of operations plan, Hands-Only CPR and AED training, and a seminar on active and compassionate listening.

Darryl Oliveira, Resilience Alliance Chair, shared lessons learned from past Hawaiʻi Island disasters, and the recent wildfires on Maui. His encouragement toward a collaborative approach that integrates community in the disaster management cycle was strongly supported by both Talmadge Magno, Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Administrator, and the attending team from State Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency.

June 1st marks the beginning of this year's Hurricane Season. We encourage all organizations and businesses to consider joining the Alliance to support information sharing, network preparedness, and a collaborative approach to disaster response.
