Vibrant Hawaiʻi to Launch Kuhikuhi Project To Increase Job Readiness
Vibrant Hawaiʻi is pleased to announce the launch of the Kuhikuhi Project. Kuhikuhi means to show, demonstrate, or teach. The program provides young adults guidance, tools, and networking with local professionals to increase their opportunities for employment. The project is set to begin in March 2022.
“It is important for youth on Hawai’i Island to have the knowledge and core capacities to enter into their desired career field - and thrive in it. As a young adult, I’ve had to learn everything on my own: crafting a resume to get my name in the interview pool, drafting cover letters, and preparing for interviews. I would have appreciated a program that prepared me for the workforce— both thoroughly and intentionally. I want others my age to see that there are opportunities for them here, that they are a valuable part of our community, and that there are many people willing to invest in their future and their success. That’s why this project is important to me.” says Kuʻuhiapo Jeong, lead of the Kuhikuhi Project and the Community Engagement Ambassador of Vibrant Hawaiʻi.
The Kuhikuhi Project connects participants with working professionals in the community who will provide individualized resume review, interview attire selection, conduct a mock interview, and provide feedback and coaching.
The project consists of a 2-part series: "The Art Of Interviews", scheduled for Friday, March 11th from 10-11:30AM, will cover interview etiquette, deconstructing interview questions, and presenting your authentic self in a way that shines. “Acing The Probation Period”, scheduled for Friday, April 8th from 10-11:30AM, gives insights into what it means to “perform well” in the first 90 days of a new job.
