Vibrant Hawaiʻi's Koʻolau Resilience Hub Network Coordinators completed 2-days of training at the inaugural IAEM (International Association of Emergency Managers) conference held earlier this month. Over 133 attendees from across FEMA Region 9 came together alongside County and State emergency management leadership to support the largest symposium of the Region.
Our coordinators gained insight into best practices to support adaptive leadership, executing complex plans, Teen CERT, and public messaging.
"This symposium pushed me to think more broadly about resilience, not just in terms of disaster preparedness, but as a continuous practice that includes equity, cultural grounding, and long-term community well-being. It reminded me to take a step back and reflect, while also staying rooted in the values and relationships that guide our daily work," Olivia Wallace, Koʻolauloa Coordinator.
As we return to our communities, we carry forward renewed inspiration, practical tools, and strengthened connections to advance resilience rooted in local values and collective care.
